You See it When you Believe it
-
"You See It When You Believe It" is a performance art piece exploring themes of life, connection, and personal transformation. The piece centers around my journey of embracing a vegan lifestyle.
In this art installation, I stand beside a sculpture representing the essence of nature, adorned with the words "Circle of Life". Participants are invited to take a piece of fruit or vegetable from a nearby basket and replace it with another. This interactive element encourages active engagement, fostering a sense of connection with the food, each other, and the artwork itself.
As I started to believe in my ability to effect change in my own life and surroundings, I became aware of the need to address the harm caused by ignoring the suffering of animals and the threats to our planet. This realization transformed me, and I began to see the actions I needed to take.
Through this process, I witnessed the power of personal belief in driving change within my sphere. "You See It When You Believe It" symbolizes the transition from old habits to new ones, transforming our relationship with food, preventing animal suffering, and contributing to the planet's well-being. Above all, it deepens our connection to animals, the environment, and ourselves.
I presented this as a performance art piece with my presence to establish a personal connection with the subjects. The act of sharing extends beyond what participants take from the table and consume; it encompasses the collective sharing of a life force energy that unites all living beings—humans, plants, fruits, the Earth, and the spirit of life itself—the power of the circle of life.
