“H2O: Home, Hope, Origin” is a visual poem, a three-channel video installation that traces the journey of an immigrant Mexican woman as she moves through the element of water, searching for her sense of self beyond the boundaries of name and nation.
Water lies at the heart of H2O: Home, Hope, Origin, a symbol of both creation and danger, of birth and loss. It embodies life’s beginning and serves as a tribute to those who have perished crossing waters in pursuit of a dream, in search of a better life.
Through the water’s movement, her homeland resurfaces, glimpses of memory, sounds, and written voices of hope that keep her connected to herself and to where she comes from.
Immigration is an act of transformation: perilous yet profound, fragile yet beautiful.
Through this immersive installation, the viewer is invited to reflect on whether identity can exist beyond language, memory, and the names we carry, the risks we take, in the fluid space between home and becoming.
